Alright, i'm now doing a series of GIMP Tutorials to hopefully answer your questions or provide tips and tricks for that step you just can't figure out. I consider myself a relatively advanced user in GIMP so I will probably be able to answer your questions. If I cannot, or you want answers sooner, then search tutorials on Youtube. I would recommend checking out "GimpKnowHow's" tutorials, they are clearely detailed and very easy to follow and apply to your projects.
GIMP 2.6 is a FREE Open Sorce Image Manipulation Program similar to Adobe Photoshop and runs on: Linux, Windows, and OS X.
