About this user
Hey everybody! My name's Jinelle, thanks for visiting my channel!
First, some fun facts about me:
- I am a chocoholic. In fact, as a kid, I used to sneak chocolate chips from the pantry and thought my Mom had no idea.
- I've been called a recycle nazi on many occasions, lol.
- I am a packrat... because I'm sure I'll use it someday!
- I have a lot of passion, and the challenge seems to be to channel it.
- I have an entrepreneur Mother, who has owned a wooden crafts business, and later a natural products company.
- I am a GLEEK! (tv show Glee)
- Music feeds my soul.
- I believe in stewardship rather than ownership. (The shepherd vs. the butcher)
- If I were a vegetable, I would be a cucumber. Because they're my fave.
- My favourite proverb is "Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime".
- I've recently taken up climbing! I'm summitting Mt. Rainier in August 2011!
- It's taken me some mental work to be willing to colour outside the lines, lol.
- If I could have any superpower, it would be ultimate self-will and determination :)
- I believe people are inherently good.
- I love movies! Especially seeing movies on cheap night :) (*love* Pixar)
- There are so many things I want to do in my life, that it's hard to choose the when and where.
So here's my story...
Once upon a time, my Mom went to a home party. It was a party for chocolate. But this wasn't just any chocolate; it was actually raw, cold-pressed chocolate without all the garbage, so it's healthy for you! Awesome :) My Mom loves health and nutrition, and saw a fantastic market opportunity, so she joined Xoçai.
Despite only being 20 at the time, I had already been involved in one network, and had done some research (and spent some money) on a couple internet marketing projects. So yeah, I was a bit cautious.
But chocolate (especially healthy chocolate) wasn't a hard thing to say yes to, so I joined the company too!
After just a few weeks of eating the chocolate, I saw an incredible reduction in my sweets and junk food cravings, deeper sleep, more sustained energy, better digestion, and clearer skin.
I didn't really build the business right away; I was more of an assistant to my Mom who was building like crazy. But what an amazing company to be a part of! Just being in that positive environment helped me grow in so many ways! From leadership books to dreamboards, team building to goal setting, I couldn't have asked for a better opportunity to strengthen myself and my skills (especially at my young age). Personal development is definitely one of the number one reasons to be involved in network marketing.
But that's only half of the story...
So I told you I'm a packrat... holding on to things "because it'll come in handy some day." But this time it actually did! In January 2009, I started saving the wrappers from the pieces of Xoçai chocolate, and I asked fellow distributors to do the same. (Picture a mountain of zip-lock bags of gold wrappers in your living room!) I started researching how to use them, and came upon the Mexican technique of candy wrapper purses.
Even though I've spent most of my life denying my "crafty-ness", I learned the technique and made some prototype purses. They were so well received among other Xoçai distributors, and I saw there was a real opportunity here for environmental and social awareness. So eight months later, after connecting with a Mexican fair-trade organization called GRUPEDSAC, I officially began the Xoçai Wrapper Initiative and founded S.O.U.L. (Showing Our United Love).

Now, instead of thousands of pounds of wrappers ending up in landfills, they are given new life and upcycled into beautiful handmade products, which provide Mexican men and women with meaningful work and living wages. The collection of wrappers also raises funds for tree planting through S.O.U.L.'s partner Trees for the Future, and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the bags is donated to Kiva, an organization lifting from poverty through the vehicle of micro loans.
I feel like my mission has totally expanded... I get to share health with people in a really fun way, I can offer them a way to reach their financial goals and build wealth, I get to teach about waste and environmental impact, and I get to work with amazing organizations helping people to help themselves.
And now I get to share all this with you!
