The difficulty curve in this game is all over the place, which is my only real complaint. One minute, you're mowing down enemies without taking a scratch - the next, one guy with an electron mace flattens your entire crew.

Kojima has brass balls to keep putting stuff like this in his games. Metal Gear Solid puts a huge emphasis on dramatic storytelling, that he managed to put jarring shit like this in and make it work shows what competent storytellers Kojima Productions are.

@ZeroxShadowscape in my opinion it's the best in the series. It's the most accessible, has the best story and is the most fun to boot up and dick around with for half an hour or so.
