Matt Grate grew up in a logging family on a cattle ranch located on Delphi Road Olympia Washington. After a decade of working in the Video Game industry helping to make over 90 Video games he went to work for the Washington State Government as a Computer Specialist. Volunteering on a safety committee grew into more than a decade of Disaster Preparedness experience.
As a Safety Officer and Chair of the Evacuation team Matt was the first person in Washington State Government to adjust to a 96 hour disaster preparedness plan on a 10 year rotating budget after watching the slow response during the Katrina disaster. Matt also participated on the Washington State Capitol Campus Emergency Responders Team a group that prepares for all the Emergencies that might happen to 6,000 employees on Washington's Capitol Campus, ranging from Active Shooters, to Campus wide Earth Quake drills, and establishing a Command Center to conduct the recovery efforts for state government. Matt also enjoys practicing primitive and wilderness skills as an extension to his knowledge and skills used during a disaster.
However Matt's biggest passion is charity work and as Organizing Chair for "AFAB World" charity, he works to deliver the goal of "Americans For A Better World Through Peace And Education" AFABWorld.com for creating a sustainable EcoVillage that will help preindustrial age people (60% of our planet) build post industrial age villages with clean water, sustainable agriculture, and a basic health and education system. Bringing modern technology through corporate sponsorships to help those who need the wealth of knowledge held by the great Industrial Countries so they can better themselves and replace slash and burn substance agriculture with Sustainable Agriculture, Light Industry, and Education as the normal way of life. On the local level AFAB World Charity is developing an Organic Gardening For the Food Bank program. When not preparing for disasters or practicing wilderness skills Matt enjoys being the Executive Chef of Delphi Farms Smoke House BBQ and Catering as well as the Master Farmer and Youtube personality Jimbo Jitsu and Thurston County Civil Service Commissioner.
