You know gluttony is a sin...
And don't give me any of that genetic obesity run in your family bullcrap. Unless your genetically predisposed to shoveling food in your mouth. I'm sure some ethiopian children wish they could have that 'genetic defect.' |

Fair enough, I am also curious about this self-loathing servility I see in the christian community, I thought humans were supposed to have been made in the "image of god", why then are humans inherently sinful?

In answer to your question, I would not want anyone to suffer at all, not even Jesus. When I see movies of the crucifixion, it makes me weep, and at the same time, very thankful that Jesus made that sacrifice on the cross to pay for my sins. In answer to your second question, I could not possibly be able to take Jesus' place on the cross because Jesus is the only one that is qualified due to his sinless life to undergo the full wrath of God on the cross and pay for people's sins. I could not even pay for my own sins if I was in Jesus' place because I myself have sinned and fallen short of God's glory. Only Jesus could have possibly been able to pay for the sins of every man, woman and child who ever lived because he lived a life of perfect obedience to God the Father.

jesusfreak0779, I have a hypothetical question for you.
If you had a choice, would you have wanted jesus to go through the suffering he allegedly did? I ask this because it seems that this is the chief important act the character of jesus carried out, and a second question I have is would you have done the same for him? These are not frivolous questions, I would like to hear your opinion on them. I am also a Computer Science student at Portland State University, I am an atheist as well. |
