If the name Jeremy Irvine is meaningless to you, don't worry, that will soon change. Here is what happens when Steven Spielberg plucks you out of obscurity to play the lead in his next film - Jeremy Irvine, who makes his feature film debut as the lead in the Spielberg-directed War Horse, has signed with Spielberg's agency, CAA. The National Youth Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company actor—and player in the the Brit series "Life Bites"—was handpicked last year by Steven Spielberg to star in his upcoming WWI drama "War Horse" and now it looks like the actor is ready to take on one of the giants of literature with veteran Brit thesp possibly joining him. Here is a brief biography of Hollywood's rising young star:

Jeremy Irvine is an English actor based in London. Irvine began his career at The National Youth Theatre and his stage credits include the Royal Shakespeare Company's 2010 production of Dunsinane. He is 19 and was trained at The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). Whilst at LAMDA, Jeremy successfully auditioned for the role of "Luke" in Disney's hit TV series "Life Bites" drawing more than two million viewers. Along with TV work, Jeremy's background is in theatre in which he has a large amount of experience from classical plays. Jeremy has been cast as Albert, the farmer's son, who forms an extraordinary relationship with his horse Joey. He plays a young boy whose horse is conscripted for WWI battlefield duty and sets out to reunite with his cherished animal. Filming for War Horse has now finished with the film expected to be released in late December.The film, which many believed is a major Oscar contender, based on Michael Morpugo's novel and Nick Stafford's stage adaptation, is Spielberg's first for DreamWorks since it relaunched with Reliance and a Disney distribution deal.

Jeremy Irvine just finished filming 'Now is Good' and is filming 'Great Expectations' now. For those unfamiliar with the novel, Irvine will be Pip, a kind orphan who grows up to be a distinguished gentleman of society through the generosity of an anonymous benefactor. Should it all come together, filming will start this fall with a planned 2012 release as part of a year-round celebration of Dickens' bicentenary.
