Jensen Ross Ackles (March 1, 1978) is an American actor. Has participated in some famous shows such as Smallville (Jason Teague), Dark Angel (Ben) and his latest work, Supernatural (Dean Winchester).
Biography
Jensen was born in Dallas, in the U.S. state of Texas, the son of Donna Joan Shaffer and Roger Alan Ackles. Jensen has an older brother, Joshua, and a younger sister, Mackenzie. Is of mixed English, Scottish and Irish. He had planned to study sports medicine at the University of Texas Tech and become a physical therapist before moving to Los Angeles to become an actor. Currently lives in Los Angeles, California.
After modeling, Ackles began to concentrate on his acting career in 1996. He appeared in numerous guest roles on Mr. Rhodes, Sweet Valley High, and Cybill before joining the cast of the NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives as Eric Brady in 1997. He won in 1998 Soap Opera Digest Award for Best Male Newcomer (something like Best Newcomer Male) and was nominated three times (1998, 1999 and 2000) for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series for his work on Days of Our Lives.
Ackles left Days of Our Lives in 2000 and went on to participate in the mini-series Blonde about the life of Marilyn Monroe. He also played the role of young Clark Kent in Smallville, but this was offered to actor Tom Welling. Thereafter, he participated as a guest on the television series Dark Angel on Fox in 2001 as Ben/X5-493, the psychopathic, serial killer "brother" of Max/X5-452 main character (played by Jessica Alba). His character died in the episode, but Ackles returned to the series in second season as Ben's clone, Alec/X5-494. He remained with the show until its cancellation in 2002.
In 2003 he made several appearances on series like Dawson's Creek CJ, Warner Bros.. In 2004 actively participated in the fourth season of Smallville, playing the character of Jason Teague, assistant football coach and also boyfriend of Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk), son of malevolent Genevieve Teague (Jane Seymour). After a few months away, Ackles returned to television in 2005 to work on Supernatural, a series about paranormal phenomena of the WB, the role of politically incorrect Dean Winchester alongside his brother Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki), traveling the United States in search of his father, John Winchester (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), and seek answers about the supernatural death of his mother. The family business is to eliminate demons, ghosts and other supernatural creatures.
She also appeared in the film "Devour" (devil-worshipers), which co-stars with his father. His most recent film is "My Bloody Valentine 3-D". Jensen is also on the list of Sexiest Men of the World, occupying the 16th place. Series Supernatural is the most watched among young people in the world, beating even then the series Smallville.
