Traditional folk (mostly Celtic, especially Irish and Welsh) music on wooden simple system flutes and whistles, maybe plus some Baroque music......
About Me:
As of summer 2009, I now also offer ready-made Simple Piccolos for sale to the public - see my video demo clip here on YouTube.
I specialise in Irish and Welsh traditional material, but also play other trad stuff and some Baroque/Classical. I am especially interested in the Period Instrument/Performance movement, though not myself classically trained. I also overhaul, repair and deal in wooden flutes - and quite a few of my video clips are demos of flutes for sale. You can see some of the repair work I have done in photo albums on my Facebook presence: http://www.facebook.com/pro....
(All enquiries on any of the above welcome!)
I am a member of Y Glerorfa, the Welsh "Folk Orchestra" - www.clera.org/saesneg/clerorfa
I am a MU member. I contribute regularly to Chiff & Fipple discussion fora under the same handle as here, Jemtheflute.
In mid 2008 I produced some demonstration videos for Doug Tipple to showcase his plastic flutes - see his channel - www.youtube.com/dougsflutes.
My main work/"day job" (mostly nights really!) is as a private hire taxi driver. I'm an ex History teacher, bookshop worker, Archaeologist (my degree subject).
I'm divorced and single. I'm a father of three young adults, 2 girls (now both at Uni), 1 boy. I'm 6' tall, slim(ish) build (somewhat overweight at 14 stone - due to sedentary lifestyle and allergy to deliberate rather than incidental exercise!) and have all my own hair and teeth, even if the former is rather "pepper & salt" these days!
I'm too young to have been a hippy as I wasn't a teenager in the 1960s!!!!! and too old to have been a yuppy in the Thatcher era, but I'm probably rather a child of my time (i.e. apathetic liberal, literate, arty/intellectual but also practical (crafty/handy), left-leaning, egalitarian, anti-religious, mildly green, unambitious/not driven, awkward, inconfident but don't appear so, under-achieving, etc..... - fry me! )
Am I alone in being seriously frustrated that I can't put my country location as Wales, or even Great Britain, but am stuck with the politically obnoxious (if legally accurate) "UK"? I'm English, but I dislike the Union Flag, and, as a resident of Wales all my adult life and a supporter of Welsh rugby, I resent as much as any Welsh native being stuck with "UK" and that ghastly flag when there's the wonderful Red Dragon!
