Your cultural idiom is utterly wrong. The performer has been working at Gooik, which is the Belgian equivalent of Cecil Sharp House, and is performing in a style identifiable as within local tradition, which makes him pretty authentic to the best current state of the art knowledge.

The strathspey played here misses the theme statement Ann MacDearmid preserves in her harp edition which has the gossips singing (or at least, playing) at the start "Oh look at her! Ooh look at her! What a hussy, totally shameless!..." and away you go into the reel.

To be accurate, the bowed psaltery isn't ancient at all, but is a useful hybrid of several truly ancient forms. The bowing was used sometimes on the scheitholt, and the rest comes from the Kantele/Winged psaltery forms of the eastern Baltic.

Nice one, but too short! If you find any hurdy-gurdy players, it blends in well there as well - yo can use the long-bowed notes to fly off and over them. Yup, and an Aoyama and Pilgrim too.

That concert harp's a bit too polished for the psaltery, stay with the celtic one
