About this user
Jeffrey Karl Hellman's career in filmmaking began in memory of late friend, Matthew S. Hisiger. Inspired by his dear friend, Jeff attended the Matthew S. Hisiger Film Foundation and was chosen to work an internship at Crossroads Films in New York City. The film foundation later awarded him with a partial scholarship to Ithaca College's Roy H. Park School of Communications with a B.F.A. in Film, Photography, and Visual Arts.
As he developed his understanding of the media arts, he explored the world. His travels to learn and create in summers abroad at the University of Cambridge, England, Hanyang University, South Korea, excursion into Beijing, China, music video shoot in Costa Rica, documentary work in the Thailand-Burma Border, and documentary work with Hama Films, Antigua have influenced his life immensely. His observations of displacement, calls for democracy, and acts of civil disobedience can be seen through his documentary work as well as his videos for several nonprofit organizations, NGO, and grassroots campaigns for human rights. He is currently co-producing, co-directing a feature length documentary, Honoring Home, about Burmese Freedom Fighter, U Han Lin, and the struggles of his homeland.
Jeffrey's artistic endeavors range from audio/video production, graphic / motion design, poetry, performance, painting, piano, and percussion.
