Hello,
No, the load stays at whatever impedance you set it at (16 or 4 ohms) regardless if you are in silent mode or using the 12" speaker. Otherwise you would have to keep switching the impedance on your amp. You have the option of toggle switch up - 16 ohms, or toggle down - 4 ohms. Hope this ...

No problem. On axis means the mike is aiming straight or perpendicular to the cone. The mic is never aiming at the center of the cone. It is off-center but aiming straight at the speaker when it is set on Axis and like a 2:00 position when it is turned all the way off axis. Hope this helps.
