It was good of YouTube to offer a choice whch leads down one path to shitty looking channels. They've tried everything to get people to leave so that they can turn it into a mass brainwashing revenue site for themselves and celebrity disney bieber crap. I'm using IE 8. Sounds a bit weird with your commputer restarting. I've never used Firefox but there will probably be a few videos on Youtube explaining it's merits and bad points.
