Music is a passion that has pulsed through my veins since early childhood. It started with the typical story singing in the church choir, slowly progressing and gaining confidence with each new musical venture.
In 2004, I started out as a vocalist for a jazz band called Anything Goes, gigging around Cape Town for various shows and jazz clubs namely Manenberg Jazz Café, Green Dolphin and Swingers. We also performed regularly at the Adderley Street Night Market and the V&A Waterfront Amphi Theater for various events such as the Cape Town Jazzathon. I was simultaneously a vocalist for another jazz band called Audio Vanacular.
I then entered a singing competition hosted at the Joseph Stone in 2005, and even though I did not win, the experience was enough to fuel my hunger for the stage even further.
In 2006 I joined a popular Cape Town boy band called Protégé. We performed in and around Cape Town for various corporate functions, charity organisations and community events such as the Adderley Street Night Market, etc. We also got the opportunity to perform with Lukmaan Adams in Port Elizabeth for a show he organized, along with other performers.
During this time I also started working for a company called, R and B Productions as a resident male vocalist recording voice-overs and radio adverts (jingles) after which I got the opportunity to record back-up vocals for Joseph (T.J), a local gospel singer who was releasing his debut album as well as Eclipse.
At the same time I was studying graphic design, and was chosen as one of ten emerging South African Designers to exhibit at the Design Indaba hosted at the C.T.I.C.C.
Last year I started performing as a solo artist around Cape Town for charity organizations and community events mentioned above. I began training myself with a name based music composing program on my computer where I started writing and composing music and songs for myself and other musicians.
It was then that I approached Eclipse Music to produce and record my debut album, which I am still in the process of completing. I am happy to have recorded and completed my two debut singles, Dont want your love and V.I.P.
Please send me all your feedback as I would love to hear what you all think ...
