Nice, I use RDesktop over an SSH tunnel to a Windows 7 VM on my Ubuntu machine. Of course, turning my Ubuntu machine on from anywhere is also nice. Sometimes, being a geek has its advantages :)

Very nice. Now buy a USB hub and an external harddrive and add a keyboard. Connect the N900 to your TV and you've got yourself a desktop :)

I agree with lewiszim that displaying your (friends) IP is not a smart thing to do. It makes it easier for hackers to come in. If you've got a router that sets up a NAT, you'd better forward some random port above 10000 (lets say 12345) to port 22 on the mac mini. You can then use ssh name@ip -p ...

I've tried Unity when news wasn't brought out that it would be the default.

If found it funny, but it's not really pointed towards the way I like to work, and what I wanted to see. And there wasn't really any method of customizing the whole, so I quickly gave up and used GDM again.

Funny thing is that both Windows Mobile and Symbian failed to compete to Andriod. Of course, out of '10, 15, 20, maybe 25 Linux platforms' the platform with the most money won, Google Android.

WTF I don't think this is close to what really happened. We should be glad that multiple OS builders have had the ability to use the GUI. What if Apple patented the GUI and made sure nobody but them could use it? We'd be in total Apple control in a worse way we are in Microsoft's control now.

You don't install Linux and OpenOffice to save money in the short term (as a company). That's absolutely rubbish. Of course it will cost money to convert from Office to OpenOffice (it costs time). But the point is that you install them because of the LONG term profits. It's like making a windmill...

Appearantly Oracle doesn't want LibreOffice to take their name. And they're not willing to join the Document Foundation.
