The ultra patch is a patch you can apply to the game that basically adds some extra danmaku and makes several bullets' speed higher. The patterns are more dense, but rarely too much different from the original ones, with some exceptions.
There are patches for almost all the Windows games and they can be downloaded here: http://cheater.seesaa.net/category/94... (Unzip the thxxu.zip in the game folder and patch the Japanese thxx.exe).
And here goes another one I originally tought of as an impossible challenge to me. I again am in a need to show my gratitude towards the people who kept me trying and pushed me forward on doing this; some of them are my real-life friends and some are people from a specific IRC-channel. Thanks to them, I kept doing something I found out as insanely hard at start.
This one was affected by the ultra patch in a rather interesting way. The danmaku velocities didn't really increase, but instead of that, there were some extra layers added to every wave of bullets in the Spell Card. It made some of the patterns rather impossible to read, or so it looked at the start. However, while the position of the waves would be random, and there were no exact safespots for any wave, the way they were built in was static. It lead into me learning the waves and eventually surviving through the butterflies due to the fact, that I knew where there wouldn't be an stream that would be impossible to see coming fast enough for me to dodge. For example, the second wave was really hard to me until I found out that th external violet and blue butterfly streams would come out in a similar spot according the other blue and violet butterfly waves - so I could pick a spot to dodge them at.
I had planned a route to around 60 seconds of spell card left, where the things started to get interesting. The pattern alters for a second time at that point, spreading the blue and violet butterfly walls in a different way than they were spread out before it. The spot of the extra-large red-butterfly-stream of three whole streams differed from being the first to last, giving me something more to worry about. It was still manageable, or at least somewhat manageable. I died several times to different stuff during this "phase" of the Spell Card, since I couldn't really plan a path at this point; I was just going for the spot that looked the least dense and dodging.
While things were already interesting enough at the 60-second altered pattern, it was not enough. The pattern alters AGAIN, at the point where it also starts to break, at 30-ish seconds of Spell Card left. From here on, it was a nightmare. There are two waves during the time between 30 and 20 seconds of card left, which are totally horrible walling waves. I died there at them rather often when I got that far. Every single other wave at this point, however, was not that much of a breather either - they were all rather insane to read, at least with my skills. So, for the final thirty seconds, I mainly took a lane that looked the least dense, closed my eyes, and prayed for whatever RNG goddesses there could be out there for a clear lane. Well, maybe not exactly that, and I had to still dodge those nightmarish extra red butterflies, but I managed.
What shall I do next? Well, someone already threw a joke (I hope it was a joke) about timing the ultra version out with Youmu solo unfocused. But, as I currently have over ten thousand tries in total with this one Spell Card, I think I'm taking a break from it for a while. Maybe one day I'll come back and start utterly horrible failing on Youmu solo unfocused, but... that moment is far to come.
I feel like playing some easymode, honestly. I think I'll do that.
Oops, I forgot to add the original replay file to the commentary. Well, here it is: http://replays.gensokyo.org/download.... It requires the Ultra Patch to be watched without desynching.

Hoo, here are Marisa Kirisame's Lunatic Spell Cards on ultra mode. Marisa is - in my opinion - harder boss on lunatic than Reimu is, and the ultra patch did nothing to make the patterns easier. They were doable after all, but if this was a 1CC attempt, I'd most likely bomb almost all of these away, since most of them took way over thirty times to capture even once.
These ones were quite a bit harder than Reimu's cards. Some of these were actually quite challenging, and I had to actually figure a new way to dodge one of them. In any case, these were quite fun to do.
I'll make a list of the Spell Cards here with some commentary about them, as usual. Also, I guess I should state that my Spell Practice replays have been having varying slowdown rates, from 0.000% to 2.xxx%. I sadly have no idea, why it is caused, but instead of staying stable at 60.00fps, my fps has varied in between 59.78 and 59.88fps, which is not much, but is enough to cause said few percentage slowdown. It's not really noticeable when you're playing, so I hope it won't matter too much.
0:00 - Magic Space "Asteroid Belt" was quite a challenge. It was always the hardest one of Marisa's Spell Cards to me anyway, and the Ultra Patch's version was quite a bit harder than the original attack. Getting into reading the gaps in between those overlapping blue and red stars was the main thing you had to get into. After I learned how to do that and how to dance around, dodging the external smaller stars from the sides, this was all about luck with horizontally moving bullets' placement. Original replay file here: http://replays.gensokyo.org/download....
0:35 - Black Magic "Event Horizon" was bullshit riding a bicycle. Seriously, this one had it's pattern totally messed up, making the usual way to dodge this card impossible, since my eyes could not read the gaps within those two similarly colored, overlapping walls. For a while, I tought of this as an impossible to dodge attack, but after a good amount of attempts, I found out a way to dodge through only one wall instead of two walls. It still wasn't too easy, and I could say this one was the hardest card this level had on ultra. Original replay file here: http://replays.gensokyo.org/download....
1:09 - Love Storm "Starlight Typhoon" would probably be quite hard, if the creators of the ultra patch had removed two main cheesing ways for this one. Neither, however, was removed and I decided to use both of them, since I've always been bad at reading bullets that are incoming from below, and this card would've been all about it if I had done it in it's original way. Original replay file here: http://replays.gensokyo.org/download....
1:57 - Loving Heart "Double Spark" was not as easy as it's original version. This one has a good amount of extra stars, faster external stars and denser pattern due to the said extra stars, so I had to do some quite intense dodging to capture this one. And the fact that the screen trembles while Marisa unleashes her power of love doesn't really help, either. For a capture, however, dodging only two sparks is enough, so it won't be too much of a nuisance. Timing this out would be really hard indeed. Original replay file here: http://replays.gensokyo.org/download....
2:34 - Light Blast "Shoot the Moon" was not altered at all, or if it was, it was not noticeable. This is all the same simple streaming card, nothing you should find from a lunatic stage four boss, especially not on ultra mode. Original replay file here: http://replays.gensokyo.org/download....
3:11 - Magicannon "Final Master Spark" follows the exactly same static pattern than it's original version does. There are two layers of stars instead of just one, but I think this is not much of a hard Spell Card, especially after you have got into the pattern. To make it look more silly, I almost timed it out. Original replay file here: http://replays.gensokyo.org/download....
