Bizarre design, but impressive and cool. It's not so far out of the previous design norms to be unrecognizable. Some Starfleet designer definitely could have come up with that.

Ok, here's a fun nitpick. I say fun because as with most Star Trek nitpicks, who cares if the story's good. Full impulse is usually only limited to 1/4 SOL so they can avoid time dilation. I thought this was an entertaining film all in all. I have problems with the comic book solution to a reboot of having an alternate timeline explain the rewrite and furthermore, I thought they were too enamoured with the hyperactive Battlestarfleet Galactiprise SFX, but it was worth seeing.
