About this user
Jake Mathews was born and raised in the northern town of Sudbury Ontario. He was surrounded by country music from an early age and began his musical career at the age of 14 when he started singing and playing guitar. By the age of eighteen he found himself in bands performing in clubs throughout Ontario for the next several years. In 1996, feeling it was time for a change, Jake decided to move West to Calgary Alberta to further pursue his dream of a career in country music. Over the next several years, he made frequent writing trips to Nashville and released his self titled debut in 2002. It generated several top 20 singles and videos and resulted in Mathews getting nominated for Rising Star at the Canadian Country Music Awards. His follow up album, Time After Time which he co-produced, was released in 2004 and was voted Best Country Album by Country Music News. Since then Jake has had several more top 20 singles and CCMA nominations. He currently has a new single called "If I Had It My Way" climbing the charts and is working on his third studio album.
