You use GOP but politician would be more accurate. Democrats are also in bed with big business. They "over regulate". In other words, make the regulation in a way that is tough for smaller competitors while giving loopholes to their lobbyist. The FDA banned flavored cigarettes which the Democrats pushed. Why? Because it's a gateway drug for kids? Dr. Howard K. Koh says it is but Michael Siegel, an anti-smoking activist, say otherwise. I always ask my fellow "progressives" if they are doing real science or just confirming their bias. Same with menthol cigarettes. Democrats say its racists as more black people smoke it yet it's just as dangerous as any other cigarette. It's like saying basketball referees are racists because they call more fouls on black people. Black people just prefer menthol cigarettes. Boehner wasn't the only one getting lobbyist checks, so were the democrats. The FDA is a tool for both parties. Isn't this another war on drugs pushed by democrats? Just end the FDA.

Unfortunately there isn't much you have said that I disagree with. What has happened is that whenever possible the GOP puts someone in charge of a regulatory agency whose job is not to run it efficiently but to disembowel it. They don't eliminate the agency because as long as its name is on the board the GOP can claim that regulation is going on. We won't be able to fix this problem until we suppress the oppressive activities of the GOP. I don't see that happening in my life time.

The FDA failed in Merck & Co.'s painkiller Vioxx and many many other cases. In fact it is a tool in which business use to improve stock. Give some money to the FDA and politicians. FDA approve some product. Stock goes up. That is how the FDA works. It works for big business not the people.

I can't reply to your comment since FixedNewsChannel blocked me for offering a different view point. However, the FDA is just giving the illusion of protection. It mostly goes after stuff like Cheerios and saying it is a drug. By that standard, it should also go after those natural medicine drugs but it doesn't. There are lots of briberies going on which makes the FDA ineffective. Trying to fix it would only benefit the GOP because backroom deals will always be part of politicians and the FDA no matter the law. Rid of the FDA as it's a waste of money. Then strengthen laws that would hold companies accountable. Then someone with a legitimate claim can sue General Mills or whatever. Also the media needs to bring attention to these things like they used to do, then the people won't buy bad products and the company could go out of business. This is more effective than the FDA giving the illusion of protection.
