I have been playing the keyboard for a little over six years already. I was basically self taught but I knew about music theory form school, so that helped a bit. Some of the first songs I learned where "Angel Baby" by Rosie Hamlin and "Halloween Theme" by John Carpenter. You will notice that I don't usually play melody lines, I might hum them from time to time, but I usually stick to playing backing accompaniment and chords. I let other musicians play more the interesting parts based on there instrument.
