No, it's not a deer scraping it's antlers. I live in Westchester, NY, and I've got this sound around my house at night. It's up high in the trees, and it can move around from tree to tree quite quickly, which means bird to me. It's always a single call, sort of a "mee!" sound, every minute or so....
