About this user

Born and raised in New York City, director Joshua Nichols first gained career success as an Art Director working at Condé Nast, MTV, and the SCI FI Channel.

Directly out of the School of Visual Arts, Nichols was recruited by publishing giant Condé Nast, where he was responsible for the redesign of Glamour magazine. He was then tapped by MTV and moved into designing for television. His work at MTV has left a lasting stamp on the channel; the graphics Nichols produced during his tenure are still in use today. His design work for the launch of MTV 2 won industry-wide acclaim and awards from the Art Directors Club.

After moving into the position of Art Director for the SCI FI channel, he created ad campaigns and directed photoshoots for the channel's original programming including Farscape, Stargate SG-1 and Steven Spielberg's Taken. His work earned numerous accolades from The One Club, The Art Directors Club, and the Broadcast Design Association.

Nichols then changed direction and took on a position as Senior Producer within the SCI FI channel. In this role, he guided numerous on-air campaigns from inception through post-production, working with talent as diverse as skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, whom he directed in a Tron-inspired promo, the cast of Battlestar Galactica, and adult entertainer Traci Lords.

In 2005, Nichols relocated to Los Angeles; he is currently working as a Creative Director with Fox Sports where he has conceived and directed campaigns for Major League Baseball and the National Hockey League. His promo for the NFL was honored at the 2007 Broadcast Design Association awards.

Most recently, in his spare time, he directed a music video for indie rock band Pinback.
