About this user

Born and raised in the streets of Boston, music has always been a major influence in the life of J.Marlo. Being an 80's baby, J was exposed to many different genres of music which have always influenced him. As a kid he would always hang out with his older brothers and their friends as they would breakdance in the middle of the street on an old flattened refrigerator box. He was always one to get in the mix and join in, doing moves the older, bigger kids couldn't even attempt. As he got older, J became more and more intrigued with music. In middle school, he joined the school choir and learned more about arrangement, harmony, and was introduced to the idea of becoming an entertainer. In high school, J's talents were noticed by his peers as well as his teachers. He was a founding member of his high school choir "Voices United" and has won numerous awards for his skills as a writer as well as award for his participation as a founding member in Voices United. One award got him featured in the Boston Herald for a piece entitled "Pain in My Heart" which was a written dedication to a friend who was shot and killed about a month prior. Throughout his 4 years in high school, J was heavily involved with Voices United, learning singing techniques and stage presence. He has performed for multiple school functions and some outside of school as well. One noteworthy performance was for the Boston School Teacher Award Ceremony at the New England Aquarium where Voices United performed an original arrangement of gospel and inspirational songs. Voices United received a standing ovation as well as high praise and offers for future performances throughout the city of Boston. As J approached the end of his senior year, he was honored to be selected to sing "The Star Spangled Banner" with another founding member as well as a solo spot performing the Boys II Men classic "End of the Road" on front of a crowd of over 500 people at Matthews Arena. Once high school was over with, J was determined to make a name for himself as an entertainer. He was featured in various talent showcases and worked with other artists in the Boston area. Some years went by and J decided to make a bold move...... to South Florida. He went to quite a few auditions in South Florida.... from singing groups to American Idol and many points in between. He was then involved in an R&B group called "Unleashed" that was based out of Ft. Lauderdale. He went on to perform at venues that included Lauderhill Mall's Black History Talent Showcase, Mango Fest, Miami-Dade County Fair as well as some club appearances. After some time with Unleashed, the guys decided to part ways and go on to do different things on their own. J decided that he will use this as an opportunity to evolve. Still in his evolutionary metamorphisis, J.Marlo continues to press on his mission to become a fixture in the music industry. His unique vocals and his passion set him apart from the rest. His main goal is to become a major Recording Artist but would like to try his hand in Acting & Modeling.
