Theism proceeds with "life is special, therefore...". I reject this assumption. Life is no more special to me than any other natural phenomenon:).

How to win a debate against an atheist? Come up with

a) A valid and sound logical argument that proves a god's/gods' existence, or

b) An example of a phenomenon, or state of affairs, for which a god/gods is/are the ONLY possible explanation.

@elvebrothergenju I was merely expounding - believe me, I agree. What offends me isn't the story - Voldemort does far worse in Harry Potter - but the fact that

a) Xians think it's TRUE and

b) They contort their own morality to interpret god's actions as GOOD.

JR lands on a nice philosophical point: science DESCRIBES, it doesn't EXPLAIN (in the way he's after). Explanations of that type pertain to MOTIVE (i.e. INTENT), not natural phenomena. In science "how" IS "why".
