John McCormack was one of the greatest singers of the 20th Century. A proud Irishman, born in Athlone in the heart of Ireland, he would blaze a trail across the world of music and capture the hearts of millions in the process.
He was Ireland's first global superstar, and although many have followed him, no other Irish artist/s has ever matched his popularity, including U2. Sorry Bono!
In 1929 Twentieth Century Fox paid him $500,000 to star in the film "Song O' My Heart". God only knows what that would be in todays money. To put it simply, he was a phenomenon!
