Programmer hobbyist since 1979. Got my degree in systems and been in the computer industry since. Between Programming, electronics and optronics as a teen, my life was pretty busy as was whatever cash I earned, very, much to my old mans dismay who found it all a huge waste.Studied electricity and electronics for 2 years through the 80's and lost interest in circuit design when surface mount came out.
Got bored and took an interest in machines. Got my A-Z drivers license, Private Pilots license and took a few hours in helicopters flying Robinson 22s. After spending over $20,000 on the other two, I needed to stop with helicopters. I flew over my fathers house and took all kinds of 5.1 Mega pixel pics just to prove how I had wasted my life. hehe
I got involved in dog training back in 1998 as a hobby. Being anal like I am it wasn't enough to learn basic obedience training, I had to go see what all the differing schools of thought were including paying to take the same pup to 3 different puppy schools to understand each of their schools of thought. I even got involved with Ceaser Milan and took my shepherd to Schutzhund school to learn about that (if your unfamilier its kind of like Police dog training). Add to that the countless books on techniques, psychology and biochemistry not to mention a friend from the local K9 unit and it all adds up to a non-professional with a LOT of info.
Just remember to keep an open mind.
No two dogs are the same and even in the early schools we paid for we found instructors who where raving idiots so it's important you use your own mind when it comes to dog handling. And remember to respect what they are, Dogs!
