Whereabouts in Malaysia is this, anyway? It must have been the northern part, as there wasn't any sign of any such waves in the southern part of the country, where I live.

A lot of assumptions here. This isn't a, 'tsunami.' It's nowhere near big enough. The fact that the people in the video didn't run suggests that they felt it wouldn't reach quite as far up the beach as it did. But, once it did, it's a bit too late for them to do anything about it. From the l...

Talking to schoolgirls - Burnistoun - Episode 3
A man becomes nervous when he wants to ask two schoolgirls for the time.
@106460 Yup. Society has well and truly become paranoid about this type of subject. Any man who were innocently to ask any child a seemingly innocent question is immediately suspected of having an ulterior motive. So, what happens? People of different generations don't communicate in public a...

North Korea army parade-朝鮮軍隊閱兵-北朝鮮軍のパレード
They're not real weapons, you know. They're all made of carved wood. And those tanks, they have little men inside pedalling away on trikes that work on a system of gears to make the tracks move round. Honest.

Americans Vs Britis...
I've never thought much of Ricky Gervais' humour. He says a lot of mildly satirical stuff, and always has the look of someone expecting praise for everything he says. 'Well, come on then, laugh, I've just said something amusing!' To my mind, at least, he's about as funny as custard.

@thetamar For Americans, the cosmetic side of dentistry is as important as the actual care for teeth themselves. Most Americans have, 'white', cosmetically altered teeth, and they think this is perfectly natural. British dentistry practice does not follow the same ideas and, 'whitening', is som...

Interesting. BBC1 using the PM5544. Not totally unknown or unheard of, but certainly not the absolute norm, either. Note the grey background behind the BBC1, which overlaps a tiny bit. This is because it's the exact same one super-imposed when using Test Card F, which actually covered the BBC...

I understand your sentiment, but you can't educate those who don't want to learn. Ignorance, as they say, is bliss. And, if those who want to believe what they chose to believe aren't open-minded enough to want to see things from a different perspective, then that's their problem.

You're almost there, but I think that the English which you've learnt is from American speakers. America, as you obviously know, has a huge influence over Japan. To learn how to speak British English, you'd need to spend some serious amount of time conversing with British people, in order to fu...

@Gregdekiller999 James Earl Jones, who did the voice for Vader, is American. I wouldn't say that he sounds British. but his tone and diction, (not only in the Star Wars movies but in practically all his other work, too), are very distinctive. It's interesting that he took diction lessons as a c...

As a lucky 6 year old, I was allowed to stay up New Year's Eve 1974, and as Big Bens' chimes ended on the radio, and 1975 began, this was the first song they played. Which, I thought at the time, was very appropriate!
