The Angel Gabriel appeared to many prophets in the HOLY Bible, and also said "do not be afraid" or comforted them first physically or with words as the Angel knew they are scared. When this Angel appeared to Mohammed he was choked in an aggressive manor. In 610 AD he was visited in the cave during his sleep by the archangel Gabriel with a paper in his hand. Gabriel demanded, "read". Muhammad responded, "I don't read". Gabriel choked Muhammad for an instant then repeated his demand and Muhammad repeated his response. Gabriel choked Muhammad again for an instant and repeated his demand. Fearing to be choked for a third time, Muhammad asked, "Read what?" He returned home and told his wife, Khadidjah, about his experience and his fears. She calmed him down and assured him that his good character and devotion to God make this vision a good omen. Khadidjah told her cousin Waraqa about Muhammad's experience. Waraqa had converted to Christianity, translated some of the New Testament to Arabic, and had been actively calling Arabs to Christianity. Waraqa assured Khadidjah that Muhammad was the Prophet that people in the Middle East had been anticipating and asked her to tell Muhammad to persevere. Waraqa died shortly after this prediction and missed the resumption of the revelations and the beginning of Muhammad's mission.

He is surprised that he is not already in hell. Others may tell him that he is not so vile. But the sinner knows and confesses that he is vile before God. The sinner is made honest at the feet of the Lord, to the glory of God. An unsaved person dead in sin is a total stranger to his deadness. He has no inkling of the coldness and wretchedness of his heart. He has no real spiritual feeling. A saved soul groans and sighs under the sense of his sin. A proof of a saved life is a thirsting for God. The saved soul thirsts for the living God There is a real panting after the grace of God. The Holy Spirit gives a spiritual hungering and thirsting after righteousness that none but the Lord can satisfy. Another proof of a saved life is a spirit of prayer. "They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them." (Jeremiah 31:9) Saying prayers is not the same as praying in spirit and in truth. Some think they pray wonderfully. They are fluent with their words. They think they have a talent for prayer. They never question if they are praying in spirit and truth. They think it sufficient to utter words. A mere uttering a few words fluently put together, is not real prayer. It is only mocking God. To such the Lord says, "Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, This people draweth nigh unto Me with their mouth, and honoureth Me with their lips; but their heart is far from Me." (Matthew 15:7,8) The saved child of God knows he cannot make insincere prayers.
