It's not Obama who's stupid, it;s the English language. I'm from the Netherlands and I would say that I can speak English pretty well and I too would think that you would pronounce the P. The Netherlands Marine Corps for example is in Dutch "Korps Mariniers" and you do pronounce the P in there.
