About CREST
CREST (Community for Rural Education Stewardship and Technology) is a program of the Island Institute in Maine, funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation.
CREST provides tools for students and teachers from island and coastal schools to create place-based learning experiences that use technology to answer community resource stewardship questions.
The core concepts are to incorporate place-based education; integrated technologies (GIS, Web Design, and Digital Storytelling); and sustainable learning communities / non-hierarchical learning.
