If you really have been diagnosed with "ADD" as recently as 6 months ago, then your psychiatrist/psychologist is using the DSM-III which is about 30 years out of date, and I apologise for suggesting you were faking.

Whoever told you the prevalence of ADD is 1 in 5 in children is wrong, too. It's more like 1 in 20. If your psychiatrist/psychologist is the one telling you these things, then watch out for him/her trying to give you every medication under the sun.
There is a lot of debate going on now about whether ADHD is a disorder at all. Not a lot is known about it, and I think a lot of psychiatrists are using its diagnosis as a way to sell heaps of drugs and make money out of treatment. Take care, now.
