"Among the Indians there have been no written laws. Customs handed down from generation to generation have been the only laws to guide them. Every one might act different from what was considered right did he choose to do so, but such acts would bring upon him the censure of the Nation.... This fear of the Nation's censure acted as a mighty band, binding all in one social, honorable compact."
George Copway
About Me:

You can call me Karis, I'm a young girl from California.
I am a traditional Cahuilla Native (Btw, it's pronounced like "Ca-wie-uh"). And yes, I do speak the language of my tribe. It's not only the older members who are able to do so, thanks a lot wikipedia.
I consider myself spiritual, NOT religious, and a secular humanist.
Feel free to ask me questions about it, I'll make sure to do my best to help you with it.

Hi, I have another question. So if the Native Americans do not practice shamanism, then what do they practice back in the past and now?

[con'd] Gringos, we have passed down much of it, from generation to generation, often unconsciously, on the informal, folk level, just by continuing to live our lives as Mexica, And, we have passed much of it into the Spanish & English languages. But only about 2million are fluent in Nahuatl(for that reason they are called "indios" while the rest of us aren't). I'm not yet fluent in Nahuatl, but one thing that I've been doing with this channel, & elsewhere, is to help other Mexica become fluent. There's lots of Mexica who are eager to learn.

Niltze, noteicuh! i'm so happy to hear from you about how the work of your nation's great elder, Katherine Silva Saubel, has been having a good effect, & that you, personally, are one of those who are carrying on her very great legacy, which is nothing less than an epic chapter in your people's history. Neh quinopiltia teh! Huel axiliztli ica cenca cualtic motequitl ! (I congratulate you! Great success with your very important work!) I think that there's something like 100million ethnic Mexica (Mexicans) in the word. Most use much of our own language, Nahuatl, every day, without even knowing it, because, despite linguistic & cultural suppression by both Spaniards & [TBC]

Niltze, noteicuh!---Hello, my sister! I just heard of the passing of Katherine Silva Saubel. R.I.P. I was surprised to see that you know your people's language, at such a young age, cuz I heard, years ago, about it being one of the Calif. lingos that was in danger of dying with the elders. At that time, I also heard of the great traditional elder, Katherine Silva Saubel, & of how she was working to save your language. Did you know her personally? Did you learn directly from her? How many Cahuilla know their language now?

P.S. did you know that Cahuilla was a word unknown to the Chrome browser's spell check dictionary? I just put it in their ignorant vocabulary.

Hola, my dear friend. Thank you for your good wishes. I know some tunes by Jason Chamakese. And yes, he's an amazing flute player, conveying heart and soul with his tunes. I love the soft and wind-like vibration in his playing. You take good care of yourself, Karis. Thinking of you ...
