@orionsax7 I have had the same expearience with a newer yamaha mixer which featured the built in "one knob" compressor... The bottom line is, with these cheaper mixers, you really dont know what your getting in terms of its compressor feature... Good compression depends on setting the right thres...

@BigLongJon21 If a mic itself is causing distortion, take it back for a refund... its faulty. inpropper gain causing clipping and distortion is a mixing error.

@tonewolfsyd not necessarily.... The PFL to start with is (Pre fade listen) meaning that what you here with it engaged is the actual signal as it is coming into the input of the mixer... this is a great feature to make sure that you are getting enough pre-amp gain at the input stage of the mixer....

Awsome! I am in the process of building my own SAC system... Do you find that the laptop has enough CPU? does it ever bog down on you? or slow down while in use?
