@oliasdoug I've been thinking about this & I don't actually think it was stage fright at all. The poor guy was on tranquilisers for anxiety , and got the most awful rebound panic attacks when the adrenaline kicked in on stage. Far from being nervous of performing, I think he was born to perform.....

it feels so wrong to hear this without the riff from Outside World piling in at the end.

@mrtimestretch Mr Partridge's "Take Away The Lure of Salvage" was a 12" LP (don't think there were ever two separate entities). GO+ (featuring the track here) was a 12" EP given away with early pressings of Go2.

They combined the LP and the EP to make "Explode Together".

Poignant, that a performer who is so magnetic and 'born-to-do-it' ultimately didn't want to be up there. The industry (and specifically their management) chewed these boys up and spat them out.

Fortunately (for us) they didn't leave it there, and recorded some albums of pure gold.

If your mind is even 1% open (which I doubt), then do your ears a favour, and search for 'Vanishing Girl' in which XTC (aka Dukes of Stratosphere) absolutely nail the sound of your beloved Hollies, ...

Heard this for the first time out of the blue on the radio whilst driving and - without knowing any of the context - the story just unfolded in the words, and the subject matter dawned on me.

Had to park up when the tears came. RIP.
