About this user
The origins of Imperial Leather goes all the way back to 1768 when a Russian nobleman (Count Orlof) commissioned a brand of perfume from Bayleys of Bond Street in London
The perfume was called 'Eau de Cologne Imperiale Russe'. In 1921 Bayleys was acquired by Cussons Sons & Co. It was not until 1938 that the original perfume was used to create Cussons Imperial Leather soap and other toiletries.
The soap was initially called 'Imperiale Russian Leather', but was soon renamed to 'Imperial Leather'. Imperial Leather has a heritage of authentic quality and pride. A classic brand, recognised for its excellence, that has stood the test of time. It is one of the world's most iconic bar soaps that inspired a TV commercial ... that people still talk about.
This year, Cussons Imperial Leather is set to take off again with a new, innovative shower product and a brand new version of that classic ad. It has been updated to land in the hearts and minds of modern Australian families and promises a new kind of everyday luxury for the 21st century.
