i love animals and ponies and of course my lovely sweet mum i love my mum! and i want to ban euthanasia with out general anesthesia!

this is why his is why i don't agree with euthanasia with out general anesthesia first
because
Sodium thiopental: ultra-short action barbiturate, an anaesthetic agent capable of rendering the animal unconscious in a few seconds. (so a very short acting general anesthesia so the animal may wake whilst dying)

Pancuronium: non-depolarizing muscle relaxant, causes complete, fast and sustained paralysis of the skeletal striated muscles, including the diaphragm and the rest of the respiratory muscles; this would eventually cause death by asphyxiation. (so if it was possible for them to wake up under the short acting anesthesia the would be paralyzed so they would not be able to show distress or conciseness and the would be having a asthma attack asphyxiation..whilst they are awake)

Potassium chloride: stops the heart, and thus causes death by cardiac arrest. so a heart attack while awake if possible to wake)

you might think... but they will be asleep when they get asphyxiation and cardiac arrest but maby not ?

the infusion of the muscle relaxant induces complete paralysis but not unconsciousness, and the injection of a highly-concentrated solution of potassium chloride can cause severe pain in the site of the IV line as well as along the punctured leg stomach.(where ever the needle has gone in)

you might think they little bit of pain / a lot of pain . is a lot better than a years worth of pain and yes it might be but why take the chance of putting your pet through .a heart attack asphyxiation and burning pain whilst awake when you can put them under general anesthesia and you will be totally a sured that the have simply gone to sleep and then slipped away and maby the euthanasia shot does work like a general anesthesia but in-case it doe sent i will always get my pets done with general anesthesia no mater what the cost because they have done so much for me and the least i can do for them is insure they have a peacfull death and slip away in a deep sleep where they will never awake. (well not till years to come anyway!)

Opponents of the euthanasia injection believe that it is not actually painless as the vets say. Opponents argue that the thiopental is an ultra-short acting barbiturate that may wear off (anesthesia awareness) and lead to consciousness and an excruciatingly painful death wherein the animal is unable to express his or her pain because he has been rendered paralyzed by the paralytic agent.

Opponents point to the fact that sodium thiopental is typically used as an induction agent and not used in the maintenance phase of surgery because of its short acting nature. Following the administration of thiopental, pancuronium bromide is given. Opponents argue that pancuronium bromide not only dilutes the thiopental, but (since the animal is paralyzed) also prevents the animal from expressing pain. Additional concerns have been raised over whether animals are administered an appropriate level of thiopental owing to the rapid redistribution of the drug out of the brain to other parts of the body.

Additionally, opponents argue that the method of administration is also flawed. They state that since the personnel administering the euthanasia shot ..injection lack expertise in anesthesia, the risk of failing to induce unconsciousness is greatly increased. Also, they argue that the dose of sodium thiopental must be customized to each individual animal, not restricted to a set protocol. Finally, the remote administration results in an increased risk that insufficient amounts of the euthanaisa injection drugs enter the bloodstream.

In total, opponents argue that the effect of dilution or improper administration of thiopental is that the animal dies an agonizing death through suffocation due to the paralytic effects of pancuronium bromide and the intense burning sensation caused by potassium chloride.

Opponents of the euthanasia injection as currently practiced argue that the procedure employed is designed to create the appearance of serenity and a painless death, rather than actually providing it. More specifically, opponents object to the use of Pancuronium bromide, arguing that its use in the euthanasia injection serves no useful purpose since the animal is physically restrained. Therefore the default function of pancuronium bromide would be to suppress the autonomic nervous system, specifically to stop breathing. and i do agree some animals do have a poor quality of life so for animals with a poor quality of life shouldn't we consider giving them a general anise-tic so we can be insured that they do go truly go to sleep and then give then give them the euthanasia injection ?
