The University of Illinois College of Law features an exceptional and well-rounded faculty with nearly half holding advanced degrees beyond their JD degrees in fields such as medicine, economics, engineering, and business. Illinois has added 20 new faculty members in the last 6 years. Illinois faculty have produced 44 books in the last two years, rank 7th in downloaded papers on the Social Science Research Network, faculty blog sites average nearly 4,000 daily visitors, and Illinois faculty are quoted in regional, national, and international media outlets more than 60 times per month, including the Colleges own TV show, Illinois Law.

Illinois is known for its expertise in Legal Philosophy, Business Law and Economics, History, International Law, Intellectual Property, Tax, Bankruptcy, Criminal Law, and Labor and Employment Law. The College is also home to brilliant students with this years incoming class placing 17th in the nation for average LSAT and 6th among public law schools. Illinois law students come from 42 states, 14 countries, and nearly 190 undergraduate institutions. Nearly half are women and more than a third are students of color, ranking Illinois fourth in diversity among the nations Top 30 law schools.

The Colleges employment rate is 98 percent within nine months of graduation and the bar passage rate is 94 percent. Illinois offers more than 12 joint degree programs, including an MBA/JD and many Ph.D. and JD programs. Nearly 10,000 strong, Illinois law alumni provide more than $7 million in support for student scholarships with a significant increase in annual fund donations during the campus-wide Brilliant Futures campaign. And, the Albert E. Jenner, Jr. Law Library is the nation's 15th largest law library with unique collections in many subject areas including a complete set of all editions of Blackstones Commentaries.
