Cops were killing minorities here like we were on the dinner menu. 16 year old Philip Purnell In Newark was shot by officer Gary Spath who was acquitted, 2 months later Rodney King was beat down by lawless cops in the Streets of Los Angeles! Sparking The LA Riots. The World Watched These Events unfold like a soap opera. These LA Cops Were Acquitted too! From LA To NYC Anger, Frustration, & Tensions were boiling hot! Every City In The United States was a lit fuse on a powder keg ready to explode! Times were what we called "ILL" or "Crazy" & Definitely "Out Of Control" In 1992 The messages that Blacks & Latinos Sent Back To The Majority Whites Was Clear! "This Is Not The 60's Anymore! You Beat Us or Kill Us Then We Will Beat Kill and Burn This Nation to The Ground! Slavery ways and days are over!" Thus The name of a brand new independent music company was born out of America's Chaos In 1992. Ill City Entertainment Inc. (ICE INC) Represented the voice of the Hood! Every Hood USA! The Voice of people being brutalized Nationwide by the same people we pay Taxes to protect us? The question arose "Who protects Us From You?" Ill City Entertainment Inc. began as an independent promotion and marketing company for urban & dance music artists. Our first clients were Relativity Records Chi Ali "Road Runner" & Capitol Records Mellow Man Ace. Glenn 'Paradise' Pinkney ran the entire operation at first from offices @ 11 Vestry Street (Off Canal St) But eventually from his aprtment in the Bronx. In The early stages Ill City was a staff of four. Glenn Pinkney CEO, Glenn saw over every detail of his company. Nothing moved shaked or baked, without his ok. Sean 'Safari' Owolo & Kevin Boston both whom interned for Glenn & Gail Bruserwitz @ Ear Candy / BMG. And early publicist Charisse England who a few years later moved away and in stepped Desiree 'Chyna' Redd - Albright who was a blessing in disguise, a hard & intelligent worker, and fully dedicated to the Ill City cause.
