ABOUT ME:
While still a child, I arrived in Paris as a political refugee, with just a small suitcase and big dreams. I knew how it feels not to own anything because I lost my country, my home and I had to leave my friends behind. I was a sad and lonely child. Only music was able to ease the pain in my broken heart. It was magical! I used to play piano for four-five hours a day. And later, when I got a guitar for my 16th birthday that daddy hardly could afford, I started to compose songs in my new language: French! . One day, I was discovered on television by the famous record mogul Eddy Barclay and signed me with Barclay Records, the largest French label then. What a dream come true! I became a recording artist with hit songs! As a destitute refugee girl I used to wear oversized cloth and leaky shoes from the Red Cross and the Salvation Army and people laughed at my big dreams wanting to be a singing star. But now that I was dressed by Christian Dior and Chanel, instead of awkward hand-me-downs, people stopped laughing at me and started to take me seriously. . My sad life transformed into a true Cinderella story! So, my new friend, no matter where you are today in your life, please, don't give up! Have big dreams, believe in yourself and be kind to others, even if they laugh at you. Raise your head, keep your eyes on your goals and you will succeed. You can reach your goals if only you believe in yourself. Yes, you can!

Today, I live in California overlooking the Pacific Ocean with a view of Catalina Island for inspiration and Los Angeles a short drive away.

I am writing a book about my exciting life where I rubbed elbows with luminaries such as General De Gaul, Albert Camus and Brigitte Bardot. (Ok, Ok!...But you must admit, at least, that she was absolutely gorgeous!) On a cruise in Egypt I met my first platonic love, a young royal prince who traveled incognito, and in Paris I had my first kiss from Salvador Dali. (Yuk... he should have stuck to painting!)

I am passionately, and deeply committed to humanitarian and environmental issues. My song The Blind Guitarist helped to build a home for blind children in Mexico City, my song David raised money on The Jerry Lewis Telethon and The Old Man's Legacy is helping the homeless. Other of my songs fight violence, pollution, global warming, racial discrimination the evils of drugs, war, kids killing kids and I am always fighting for Human Rights! I am working toward eliminating hatred and hunger in this world, working toward harmony and make people realize that we are all brothers and sisters on this beautiful planet. But ours is a very sick planet. It is a dying planet! Before it's too late, we must urgently unite in trying to heal it, in trying to save it, instead of bickering and killing each other.

Back to me, I sat highs standards for myself as a hard worker, constantly trying to improve, contribute and give back to society out of gratitude for the chance I've been given. I have 29 hobbies and professions (No kidding! Go and check it out on my website: www.ildylee.com) and I often work around the clock, especially when on a deadline. Let me leave you with a thought: The difference between a successful and an unsuccessful person is that the successful one is willing to do what the unsuccessful is NOT willing to do!
