Hellloooo. I am a fiddler that loves to play traditional irish fiddle. I also play some american traditional music but i love irish music. As a small child I grew up around music with my step grandfather an accordian player, my great grandfather was a fiddler and my mother was an orchestra violinist, my father played guitar and has a voice that hums in my ear even after he left our world and returned to the heavens. (miss you daddy i love you)I have played the fiddle off and on 20 years. I received formal instruction when I was 11 - 12 years old. I was placed in first chair and put in special side classes hand picked by my school. Unfortunately we moved and for many many schools (mom moved alot) there wouldn't be any more room for me in the classes. Any family that knew music were already past away and my mom was forced into her orchestra so didnt' play often as an adult. Of course this was depressing for me so I stopped playing. I then picked it back up a little bit when I was 15. I was greatly encouraged by my grandmother and mother until they pawned my violin and then that was that. I was about 16 when I gave up again. I wouldn't receive another violin until I was 22 on my wedding aniversary. It was a peice of shit instrument and didnt' play very well for me so when I left my x husband (cheater!) I sold it for a tank of gas and carton of cigarettes. I then bought my next instrument on ebay and it was ok. I played it for a while and started to get into it again when I was 27. I only had that 1 year instruction when i was 11 but I was determined to remember every bit of it. I got some books and found that it was much like riding a bike! I didnt' forget anything I learned. So I practiced and practiced.
One fatefull day the people across the street were moving and they didnt' take their stuff. The landlord waited for them to come get it and then after a couple of months the owners of the house threw out all this man's stuff! My neighbor found my now best friend, my fiddle. It is much better quality then my ebay fiddle and it felt like I knew him all my life when I first put him in my hands. This fiddle was meant to be my magic that I had lost so long ago. I have been playing every day since for at least an hour every day. He is an older fiddle, which is best in a fiddle. The older the better baby : P
When I recieved this fiddle a few years back I also discovered how much I loved traditional irish music. I had longed to get out of the "orchestra" setting and wanted to get into fiddling. I didnt' want to feel like I was playing at the cinderella ball any more lol. It was like a light clicked in my head and I just started to play this irish music like mad! I haven't stopped. My favorites in the irish music are hornpipes and reels. I can also play jigs and polkas. Every now and again I will play a sweet air. My favorite air is Rosslyn's castle. My favorite reel is Cooley's. But really I love them all. Something about that music makes me dance. Not from the outside but my heart dances and I get butterflies likened to the ones you get when you find some one you love and really for the first time realize you love that person. Only for me every time I play its like falling in love for the first time.
I will put some videos up soon maybe. I mostly made this so I could comment on the beautiful music I have heard on youtube. I do have a myspace band page not sure I am allowed to put a link here but I will try anyway. www.myspace.com/mefromadam
you can hear me play there along with my fiance' on his guitar. If you need to know more about me you will see my personal myspace page on the band page #1 friend spot.
Take care and........
Happy fiddlin'
