The Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) launched the Kosovo Civil Society Strengthening Program (K-CSSP) in 2008 with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The program seeks to enhance existing civil society resources in Kosovo through grant making, cutting edge advocacy tools, and innovative capacity building methods, which will take civil society to new levels of performance. ISC's approach is strategic and entrepreneurial, helping nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) learn to articulate constituents' concerns, work effectively with government officials, and build interethnic interaction into every project activity.
