היעדים של רמו"ט הם לחזק את ההגנה על מידע אישי, להסדיר ולפקח על השימוש בחתימות אלקטרוניות, ולהגביר את האכיפה של עבירות פגיעה בפרטיות. רמו"ט גם משמשת כמרכז ידע בממשלה לחקיקה ופרוייקטים בעלי היבטים טכנולוגיים, כגון ממשל זמין.
The Israeli Law Information and Technology Authority
(ILITA) was established in 2006.
ILITAs responsibilities are set out in three laws: the Privacy Law,
the Credit Data Services Law and the Electronic Signature Law, and
they apply uniformly to both the private and public sectors:
• Registration of databases and licensing of credit data services and
certification authorities
• Inspection of data controllers and license holders, including search
and seizure authorities
• Complaint handling
• Investigation of criminal offences
• Imposing of administrative fines
• Setting guidelines of the standard code of practice for data controllers
and license holders
• Raising public awareness to the right to privacy in data in both data
controllers and data subjects
ILITA also acts as a governmental knowledge and counseling center
for legislation and projects relating to law and technology.
