using Cubase and creating music. If you are like me, you hear music unlike anyone else. Your mind systematically breaks down each sound, and you can identify the unique patterns. You can hear the individual drum patterns, the melodic bass line, and the vocal sound stage getting wider as the chorus comes into play. Your ears and mind have been trained to do this.
Let's make one thing clear, though, just because you hear this way doesn't mean you are ready to be a producer. You may be musically inclined, but not ready to call yourself a producer. Being a producer means more than having some production gear.
Sure, you might be talented enough to make some decent tracks. You may have also recorded some cool songs before. But you can hear the difference between your work and professionally produced material. Your music sounds like it came from your bedroom or basement. And if you keep this up, you will never be successful.
As a producer you have an obligation to know music from every technical aspect. And most importantly you need to know how to transform you recordings into professional tracks. Until you know exactly how to do this correctly, you will not be successful or make any money.
