Economics:
Free Market Capitalism, and its perpetual boom and bust cycles, will render the Middle Class extinct if something is not done to restrain this process. These cycles clean house with the lower and middle classes, while generating even larger influxes of wealth to the upper classes. Such occurrences represent the natural cycle of our society moving towards Plutocracy. 80% of the US population owns less than 7% of the nation's wealth, and some still complain the tax burden is unfair to the rich. This kind of insanity being promoted is why American society is crumbling. It has been empirically proven that nations with larger wealth gaps generate more crime. The US government needs to employ its citizens and choke the labor supply, forcing businesses to raise wages without dumping costs onto consumers. Instead, cutting obscene executive salaries will have to take place, and the wealth gap will become more reasonable. In effect, crime and poverty will decrease, opportunity will become more accessible, and society will become more egalitarian rather than Aristocratic. These are the very ideals that structure a large, powerful middle class - the cornerstone of any stable and just society.
Terrorism:
We have been fighting a lost war. In fact, Terrorism defeated the United States of America within a couple months after the initial attacks during September 11th. To quell fear and pandemonium, we sacrificed everything we stood for, while simultaneously trying to preserve just that. We diverted from our values for a hollow sense of security. In other words, the goal of Terrorism has been fulfilled. We have completely nullified Habeas Corpus, we are unlawfully torturing prisoners, and we militaristically invaded another country based on false assumptions. By acting in this manner, we've become the very enemy we're fighting. The line between the good and bad guys has been blurred beyond recognition, and we have completely abandoned the entire concept of justice. Nearly everything we once stood for is now gone. By allowing fear to compromise who we are as a nation, we've allowed Terrorism to win.
Global Warming:
A huge oil spill just happened, and the Conservatives are still chanting, "Drill Baby, Drill!". Liberals and scientists are asking, "Still Baby, Still?". Somebody's gotta wonder how many species does Earth have to sacrifice, how much forest has to be destroyed, and how little arctic ice must be left for people to wake up and feel the heat? There is an ecological storm brewing on the horizon, and the Climatologists see it coming - unlike the 60% of the American public that has its head up its ass. The politicians, the media, and of course the public are all exhibiting paramount disillusion to a problem that will produce paramount destruction and loss. Crop soil is becoming dust, Tropical Rain Forests are becoming deserts, and the Fresh Water is vanishing. If you think war over oil and religion is vicious, you don't have a clue. Wait until people are fighting over food, water, and shelter. Lower gas prices and imaginary friends will be the least of our problems when that shit hits the fan. This epidemic will crush the world economy under a strained supply of natural resources, and the resulting poverty will make the Great Depression look like a cake walk. Sadly enough, alternative energy is just waiting to be employed, yet humanity squanders on the opportunity to save itself...
Conservative Christianity:
Regardless of the need for drastic change in fiscal, domestic, and foreign policy, opposition to any kind of change remains strong in the US. The citizens of Mainstreet America are losing their homes, their jobs, their pensions, and everything else they have ever worked for, yet the budget for the Military Industrial Complex is upheld over socioeconomic priorities. The right to smoke weed, or the right for gays to marry and serve their country remains prohibited, but government established religion is a daily norm. Invasion of a sovereign nation, torture of human beings, and the death of more than 1 million innocents has yet to spark any reconsideration of the way America domineers global affairs. How much more must be sacrificed before Conservative Christians are willing to change? These ideologues are driving America into the ground, and it needs to end. This country can no longer impose indifference upon the working class, inhibit the rights and liberties of the people, nor commit egregious acts throughout the world. The Conservative Christian community refuses to acknowledge the evolving and encompassing injustice they induce, so it's up to us. We will use our votes to improve our Democracy and empower ourselves as individuals, so that we may progress as a nation, regardless of regressive opposition. Conservative Christians have failed, so now it's our turn - The Citizens of Mainstreet - to ensure and secure OUR future.
