Preserve Okinawan karate and kodudo, fine martial arts corrupted by the Japanese and the west.
About Me:

The following is a brief description of me and why I speak out about fraudulent karate. I have no identity and offer nothing but information that is factual and garnered by experience and research. This is not about me, it is about you, your future and the truth of karate, read with opened eyes. I am a U.S. Marine, I trained with the JKA in Japan as a Marine, it began in 1964. I became a life member and I was certified to teach under the ISKF and taught under the AAKF also. I now study classical Okinawan karate and kobudo only and for all the reasons given on this site, I have done so for quite some time, I am in my 28th year of unbroken karate training. I tell you these things only to allow you to know, I have been there for a long time, it is a life priority and, by nature, I want to learn all I can about serious interests. I no longer practice JKA Shotokan, the syllabus began to trouble me as it is hugely lacking if viewed from a martial art perspective and the tournament focus only bolstered my emerging belief that the JKA does not even practice karate. An example of my premise follows: If I show up on a baseball field in a uniform and have been highlighted as being a baseball expert, common sense dictates that I am capable of teaching baseball, after all, I am "the baseball sensei." If, over the course of years, all I teach is bunting and base running, it becomes clear that something is amiss, there is much more to baseball such as defensive tactics, offensive tactics, conditioning of players, pitching, fielding etc. Karate is a comprehensive Okinawan martial art, the JKA says so yet for decades I attended JKA lineage instruction under every JKA name in America, some from Japan and some from Europe and got the same thing. A "name" and "rank" showed up in a gi with a black belt and taught the JKA version of kicking, punching and blocking and the ever present tournament administration instruction. No variation, cloned, see one see them all, literally for decades. Never, not one time, did I receive substantial instruction on striking, smashing, throwing, joint techniques, ground techniques, fighting tactics, combat related kumite, kata that had bunkai, breathing, body motion management, conditioning of the body etc. which are ALL in Okinawan karate plus more. Why? Martial arts were banned in Japan in 1868 by the Meiji Restoration. Their killing and maiming arts, bujutsu, were by law replaced by budo, the modern art de-emphasizing practicality and effectiveness in favor of personal development. Budo does not mean martial art, it means martial way and it implies there is no external enemy. Bujutsu means martial art, methods or crafts and clearly implies an external enemy. Only outside of Japan is that misunderstood because we aren't exposed to the subtleties of their language. That is exactly what Nakayama did to the karate of Funakoshi, he gutted it of the essential methods, and developed a tournament sport. In doing so, he invalidated the product as karate, it does not fit the model. It became clear also that the JKA draw is dazzling techniques and contrived dynamics, "I want to do that!" Fortunately, karate requires easy to use techniques and naturally derived dynamics. It is crystal clear to me now that the person that wears a gi, has dazzling techniques and awesome athleticism may no more be prepared to teach karate to others than I am able to teach quantum mechanics. The JKA simply teaches something that karate is not as karate is a comprehensive martial art, not a sport. That is not to say JKA followers can not fight or that they are not accomplished, but, it is to say that in order to be accomplished in karate you must first learn karate and it is not available in the JKA. Additionally, the JKA and some of its lineages have this "exclusivity" paranoia in that you can not train with other systems, and, if you do you will be expelled. What is up with that nonsense? Could it be that they don't want you to be able to compare? Want to learn of classical karate? Find a teacher of true Okinawan lineage, avoid the JKA, it's lineages and western karate. "Kyogi te" is a term coined by the Okinawan karate community, it means false karate, the world is full of it. If you want more info, message me privately. If you want to shoot the messenger, have at it, the subjective will do just that, it is the nature of defending something that is valued even though it may be ignorantly derived. Most simply do not know of this issue, they have trusted others for their knowledge, both historical and technical, have not studied in depth in order to ascertain legitimacy or to learn independently. It is the classical way in which this delusion is spread and spread it is, world wide over the last sixty years. See the info to the right. And, no, I do not hate the JKA but I do hate deceit and delusion that is sold to kids and unsuspecting parents no matter what supposed "sensei" does it and it IS done, knowingly.

A famous American baseball player was invited to another country to demonstrate and then teach baseball, in short order he had students who were participating with enthusiasm. In some time he noticed a small group of students were using the dynamics of batting to practice self defense with a bat. The teacher told them that baseball was a sport, not a martial art and that their practice sent a flawed message to others. The group did not listen, the teacher died, the organization continued their folly of baseball self defense and many, many followed and believed them. Americans would likely be offended by this scenario but they defend Nakayama Masatoshi when I say that the JKA did exactly that same thing to the karate of Okinawa. Well, regardless of emotional objections, that is exactly what happened and has gotten worse through time.

When a well-packaged web of lies has been sold gradually to the masses over generations, the truth will seem utterly preposterous and its speaker a raving lunatic. A lie, even if believed by millions, is still just a lie.

Be advised, the following is a blunt, up front revelation of the truth about Okinawan karate and how is has become corrupted and fraudulently re-identified by cultures out side of Okinawa. I offer no apology for it's frankness or the implications it may have as the phenomenon that is described is not only certainly true, it may be criminal in cases or subject to civil litigation in others. If you find yourself substantially the victim of suspected fraud, I would encourage you to seek legal remedy, it is one way to minimize the impact of it for others and yourself. Those that are implicated by this information may deny it for many reasons, but, if money is involved fraud may be involved and they are likely not going to admit it to you. Read the left before you read the below, it will help you understand better. And, no, I am not angry, just plain spoken and willing to say the truth in a world of liberalism and delusion.

The blunt truth for western people involved in "karate." Time, about seventy years, the Japanese, primarily the JKA and its lineages, and the western culture have dealt you an injustice. They have transformed by corruption the classical unarmed martial art of Okinawa, karate. In a nut shell, the JKA does not practice karate and the vast majority of western "karate" is fraudulent as well. I tell you this to stimulate you to study and research on your own if you want to know of true karate. I will offer no proof other than the experience of training and research over 47 years and the certainty of the conclusions that can not be escaped by an objective mind. The subjective largely can not be moved and will argue, kick, scream and call me names. The justification by human vanity will be crafty and endless and it is clear to me that you are either willing to seek the truth on your own or you will not. If you are not, there is no proof for you from any source.

Please understand, my intention is to stimulate you to move on your own behalf. I do so simply because the delusion and corruption of karate, and many other arts, has gone on for so long that there are huge numbers of so called karate, iaido, jujitsu, tae kwan do etc black belts that actually have little or no legitimate knowledge of the activity they say they practice. It is that bad and it is so all over the world. Many people, perhaps you, have been caught up in this innocently. However, and make no mistake, there are large numbers who know the truth and continue anyway, they want your money. There is an entire martial arts industry out there for that purpose and a large number of fake and fraud sensei, shihan, renshi, hanshi etc in the good old USA. YouTube is full of them but the inexperienced do not know them, do you?

By the necessity of circumstances, Okinawa developed an art with which to wage interpersonal combat. Chinese art techniques were assimilated with the native art as seen fit. The aggregate art remained virtually unexposed outside of Okinawa for centuries and for long periods was practiced in secret. Their art was called various names, tsukinesu, ti and karate were some of several but, regardless of the name, it was a comprehensive and vicious martial art, they would do anything to stay alive. Danger chose the methods that comprise their art, it is a simple, irrefutable fact of historical reality. Karate has had an identity for centuries and that identity belongs to the people that developed it, the Okinawans, and no one else.

The objective proof of the JKA: The syllabus of Okinawan karate is naturally derived for the human body and combat focused. Generally it is punching, kicking, striking, blocking, joint techniques, throwing, ground techniques, breathing management, management of movement, kusho, special techniques unique to a ryu, tactics regarding technique usage and weapons of opportunity (kobudo). The JKA syllabus is tournament driven and is punching, kicking, blocking and the ever present tournament management training. As danger spawned the techniques and training style of Okinawan karate, Nakayama Masatoshi's tournament vision spawned the JKA and the resulting sport. Realizing these facts and accepting the truth of their existence leaves only one clear conclusion, the JKA does not practice karate even though they say they do, they practice that which karate is not and it is not by a huge disparity.

The west largely has allowed the JKA, its lineages and a large number of karate frauds to define karate for them, they simply took the word of a "name" or a "rank" or a perceived authentic organization. Think! Did you do anything to verify the legitimacy of these people? Did you do anything to understand where karate was developed and what it's nature is before you got involved? Did you do anything other than accept the apparent obvious, "this must be true because they say so?" Ask yourself a simple but revealing question, how can anyone identify karate to me unless it corresponds to the identity that was developed in, Okinawa? The true answer is: no one can identify karate to you unless it corresponds to Okinawan karate just as no one can identify baseball to you unless it corresponds to American baseball. To do otherwise is either innocent ignorance or intentional delusion.
