International Autonomous Robot Racing Challenge(IARRC) is a competition for developing the best self-driving miniature cars for a simplified driving environment. Developing both hardware is difficult and time consuming. A lot of the software testing had to wait until the car hardware was 90% complete but not anymore.
Now, the IARRC Simulator offers a substitute for the car and its environment so the car driving code can be tested in the computer before hardware is ready. Ideas can be prototyped, demonstrated to sponsors, and tested very early in the development process.
