I definitely agree with you that the Castle in the Sky dub is fantastic, but I think the reason why purists are so adamantly against it is because of the changes Disney made from the original. One Spotlight Review on Amazon (with 36 out of 37 votes!) even declares the dub a travesty and that it should never be watched. Personally, I am not bothered by the changes and I enjoy it just as well as you do.
