About this user

My name is Cody Hull, and I feel it necessary to explain why I choose this name as my video production signature. Simply put, this production team is named after the Hull House settlement house in Chicago. I did not choose this name because it shares my last name, but because their accomplishment serves as a model for how I and my fellow comrades work. On a side issue, I do not know the origin of my last name and I could very well have a relative who participated in the actions of Hull House. Regardless whether or not I share the blood of someone who attended Hull House, I still share the same way of thought. I wouldn't be doing this facility justice if I didn't give a minor history lesson. (Thanks Wikipedia)

Founded in 1889 by Jane Addams and Ellen Gates Star, Hull House was one of America's first settlement houses and the probably the best known. Because of the Hull House's social, educational and artistic programs, it earned a reputation as the best-known settlement house in the U.S. and became the standard bearer for the movement that included almost 500 settlements nationally by 1920. At its inception, Hull House's main purpose was to provide social and educational opportunities for working class people in the surrounding neighborhood. The residents held classes in literature, history, art, domestic activities, and many other subjects. Hull House also held concerts that were free to everyone, offered free lectures on current issues, and operated clubs for both children and adults. The settlement was also gradually drawn into advocating for legislative reforms at the municipal, state and federal levels, addressing issues such as child labor, women's suffrage, and immigration policy.

One would have to be insane or heartless not to feel some admiration and respect for what this institution has accomplished. This production team is named after Hull House not just out of respect, but also because this institution serves as a guideline to the way we work. Like Hull House we hope to teach and better the lives of our fellow people, only our method is with shitty quality ripped/found/shot footage.
