Holocaust Museum Houston Receives Highest National Recognition by the American Association of Museums

Holocaust Museum Houston has achieved accreditation from the American Association of Museums (AAM), the highest national recognition possible for a museum, it was announced today.

Of the nation's estimated 17,500 museums, 775 are currently accredited. Holocaust Museum Houston is proud to join the Museum of Natural Science; the Contemporary Arts Museum; and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston as one of only four AAM-accredited museums in Houston.

"Accreditation assures the people of Houston that Holocaust Museum Houston is among the finest in the nation," said Ford W. Bell, president of AAM, in announcing the award. "As a result, the citizens can take considerable pride in their homegrown institution, for its commitment to excellence and for the value it brings to the community."

Accreditation signifies excellence to the museum community, to governments, funders, outside agencies and to the museum-going public.
