Dave Robinson (Stiff Records) recorded and released songs composed and fronted by Keef Trouble, using 'The Thunderbolts' as backing band.
'The Thunderbolts', a name-change suggested to Keef Trouble by Dave Robinson for recording purposes, played at the now legendary Stapleton Hall Tavern (subsequently renamed) on Crouch Hill, London, for two years.
Every week a loyal audience were treated to Stiff recorded featured songs such as "Dust on Me Needle" and "Something Else" alongside the usual blues numbers. Among other Trouble composed and Stapleton performed songs were "Round the Edges" (the B side to "Living on a Giro" released under the Ritz label), "On Me Planet", "Shrewsbury", "P.E. Teacher", "Gloria", "Concrete Underneath Your Own Two Feet" "On the Hook" and "WPC 41".
The residency at The Stapleton Hall Tavern in the early 1980's can be seen as the final stage and high point of 'The Thunderbolts' pub gigging legacy, where musicians would occasionally add themseves to the line-up, the most memorable being Mark Knopfler.
For gigging, 'The Thunderbolts' reverted to their original name 'Brett Marvin and the Thunderbolts' while bookings became more and more scarce, today these being just two or three a year.
Keef Trouble's association with Dave Robinson and Stiff Records at that time was on the basis of the success of Jona Lewie's hit "You'll Always Find Me in the Kitchen at Parties", for which Trouble wrote the lyrics.
