I was lucky enough to see Danny Kaye perform this skit with the San Diego Symphony a long time ago. It was one of the best and most memorable experiences of my life.

Thanks for the tip on how to remember. I know the rule, but often have to correct others. Now I have a tool to help them remember.
You emphasized periods and commas... what about question marks, exclamation points and other punctuation? Don't they all go inside the quotation mark?

I was fortunate to see him perform with the San Diego Symphony in 1981. He was superb!
